Fall is a perfect excuse to ditch your summer footwear like sneakers and flats and get into a pair of true fall essentials – boots! From over the knee options, to booties, combat boots and everything in between, there is a style of this practical and fashionable footwear that will speak to you. And as always, style trends have evolved from black and brown hiking boots of the days past to feature more inventive colors, materials and shapes than ever before. Read on to learn some of my favorite fall boot styles and get inspiration from designers and brands that I am currently loving.

– Knee-High Boots –

A wardrobe staple for every self-proclaimed fashionista. These tall boots come at a perfect height just below your knee so you can still move easily and be protected from the elements. I like to pair them with midi-dresses and skirts for a timeless look that blends your footwear with outwear. Throw on a light jacket and you have a versatile fall outfit. When looking for knee-high boots, don’t forget to consider the heel size – go with a skinnier stiletto for a date-night look and a chunkier heel for everyday wear.

– Booties –

Tall boots’ little cousin, booties are a perfect combination of size and style for most women. Just like men’s chelsea boots, they are very on trend right now and go great with jeans, leather pants or maxi dresses as they cover a little less skin. Just a great all-around option to wear with anything long – pants or dresses – if it’s not too cold outside just yet.

– Mid-Calf Boots –

Mid-calf boots sit somewhere on the spectrum between tall boots and shorter booties. They are not as tall as knee-high boots and are perfect for more petite weareres who still want to elongate their legs. Chunkier heel is a must for this style and you can wear them with almost anything. I like to dress them down with pants and stuff my pant leg inside the boots – an overall great versatile boot!

– Combat Boots –

If you are hiking in the morning and going to a punk rock concert at night (ah, pre-Covid days!), combat boots might be your best friend. Taking their design cue and name from military boots, these boots are all-around chukier, usually have a thicker sole and exudes more casual and sporty vibes. They are great for balancing out bright, colorful outfits or try pairing them with denim for a more utilitarian look. An edgy and masculine boot for sure and one of my favorites this season.

– Over the Knee Boots –

Another favorite of mine! Every time you wear over the knee boots, you make a statement. They are great for pairing with short dresses and skirt as your legs are still fully covered. Go for shorter heels or flats for a more casual look but don’t be afraid to experiment with color and textures  as these boots can add an interesting angle to your entire look.
